Katydid Farm is located in coastal South Dartmouth, Massachusetts and was originally a cow farm. The fields are bordered by beautiful stone walls, as is typical for the area, and the original 100 year old barn and house still stand.
At our farm, our horses come first. We pride ourselves on the excellent care that they receive, and the very natural and healthy life that we are able to provide. We believe in 24/7 turnout year 'round whenever possible, and all of our horses enjoy large grass fields whether they are showing, doing lessons, having babies, or are retired.
We do limited boarding at the farm, have a longstanding lesson program, and provide the ability to show at the local and USEF level for any of our students who wish to participate.
We are also home to several formerly feral barn cats, lots of chickens, some homing pigeons, and many wild turkeys, deer, coyotes, and all manner of wildlife.
We are fortunate to have wonderful practitioners to work on our horses, as well as a great support staff, and have had too many amazing long time clients to count.
It is very important to us that everyone who comes to the farm feels welcomed and happy to be there, and we hope that if you come to visit us, you will too.

We offer a lesson program that focuses on building a good physical and mental foundation right from the beginning. We teach horsemanship as well as riding and it is very important to us that our students understand that caring for our horses and ponies, and building a relationship with them, is just as important as riding.
Our farm has a large 150' x 220' all weather outdoor sand ring where the majority of our lessons take place. We have a full complement of hunter and equitation jumps, and we teach and train year 'round.
The majority of our students enjoy competing in horse shows although that is not a requirement for lessons. We have many very nice horses and ponies available for lessons, and occasionally for lease for the right match.
We compete at shows throughout the Northeast, generally at locations in Massachusetts and Connecticut such as @Fieldstone Show Park, Westbrook Hunt Club, The Pines, and more.
In recent years we have downsized our lesson program in order to concentrate on our younger riders and our ponies, some of whom have qualified for Pony Finals at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY.

Our farm spans 40 acres, primarily consisting of pastureland with some wooded areas, and features a 150' x 220' all-weather riding arena. We have two barns: the main barn, a renovated cow barn transformed into a horse facility, includes a spacious hot water wash stall and a comfortable, climate-controlled tack room. The stalls in our main barn are generously sized and can be adapted for foaling as needed. Additionally, we have an 8-stall shed row barn designated for our smaller horses and ponies. All our horses enjoy year-round access to 24/7 turnout on lush pasture or in smaller, grass-free hospital paddocks. We prioritize their-being, ensuring they have full turnout when appropriate, considering factors such as age body clipping, and other individual needs that may require stall accommodations. Our pastures have South facing run-in sheds so there is always shelter available.

We offer a double outdoor wash rack for use during spring, summer, and fall, in addition to our indoor wash stall. Approximately two years ago, we switched our horses to a no grain/full forage feeding program, and they have never looked better. Our feeding regimen includes a soaked mix of alfalfa and timothy pellets, along with Triple Crown Ground Flax and Vermont Blend minerals. We also provide high-quality hay free choice, ensuring our metabolically sound horses always have either grass or hay available at all times.
